STAY Fashion ~ Culture Couture; Fall 2011 - TOP 10 TRENDS

The reds and golds of Autumn have made their way in. As we put away our shorts, cotton dresses and sunscreen, we don’t want to surrender immediately to the cold. Keep the latest trends for fall on your radar by making sure you have a couple of warm and chic looks on hand for school. In order to prepare for a fabulously fashionable fall, here are the top 10 trends this season:

1. It is a known fact that CAMEL is the “it-color” this season. The vicuna browncamelcaramel, and beige shades succeed to bring refinement to any outfit. Camel is the new black.

~ Max-Mara

Along with comes the NU VOGUE...

...And of course the COBALT ELECTRIC BLUE which looks good on all skin tones.

2. A classic look that has come back strong this season is PLAID. However, unlike designers who dressed their models from head-to-toe in plaid, a more realistic approach would be to wear a plaid skirt with a blazer.
~ D&G ~Ralph Lauren

~ Burberry

3. This fall, you are allowed to break all fashion rules by bringing out your wildest, most flamboyant, and exotic clothes. From refined and classy LEOPARD PRINTS, to POLKA DOTS, to FUR, this fall these glam and city-chic ensembles leap onto the trend list.

It started with jackets then slowly made its way conquering, dresses, bags, and now even shoes. FUR is one of the hottest fabrics this season as it was spotted all over the runway.

Ditch the plain solid colors this season and be more adventurous by wearing DOTS AND DAINTY PATtERNS. This trend can be overwhelming however; so don’t go crazy with the dots! Whenever you are flaunting one of these chic looks, remember to always accompany it with a solid color.

4. Maximum coziness is found in the OVERSIZED SWEATSHIRTS, PONCHOS, LUXURIOUS KNITS that are very stylish and practical this fall 2011. If you want to achieve a classier appearance then of course pair it with some fuRrY boots by D&G!

5.  The TUXEDO BLAZER was at the top of the fashion list during the fall 2001 Runway, and now it’s back! But girls, try not to go too literal with this trend. Find stylish ways to play up the masculine and feminine contrast.

7.  A DAYTIME APPROPRIATE CLUTCH is one of the key elements for fall 2011. It is both beautiful and elegant allowing you to adapt it to any outfit, whether we are talking about a more polished look or a casual one.

8. The dress has always been at the top in the fashion industry, but lately, the skirt has been nudging its way back to life. Last spring, many skirts began popping up both in stores and on the runway eventually turning into a recurring trend. Last fall, it was all about mini skirts. But as of fall 2011, the hemlines have dropped down to the knee, the skirts are higher up the waist, and mini-skirts are now progressively becoming MIDI-SKIRTS. The long MAXI-SKIRT is also increasing in popularity. The dress is obviously always going to be the dominant choice for all, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the skirt were to overthrow it anytime soon..

9. This season the 70s made a strong comeback. The high-waisted flare pants are the most ideal and chic choice for a casual daytime look, but also for an event that requires a more elegant and formal look, such as a cocktail outfit. Who says pants can’t be made to look elegant? This seasons must have pants are a pair of 70style WIDE LEG OR FLARE PANTS.

10. Finally, it’s time to put away those flat summer sandals and get those high-heeled boots on. One of the hottest trends this fall are PLATFORM BOOTIES. Platforms give you a good life but they’re much more comfortable than your typical stilettos...!
